  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt unsalted butter and add chopped apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt. Cook until apples soften (about 5–7 minutes).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Blend in cut pieces of butter until crumbly.
  3. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan. Press half of the oatmeal mixture into the pan bottom.
  4. Spread the apple filling evenly over the crust. Sprinkle remaining oatmeal mixture on top.
  5. Bake for about 50 minutes until golden brown. Allow cooling before slicing into bars.
