  • 8 Tablespoons unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (room temperature)
  • Pinch fine sea salt
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 1/3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • Ground cinnamon (for sprinkling on top)
  • Sliced fresh figs (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F and line a muffin pan with cupcake liners.
  2. In one bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and sugar until light; add olive oil and sour cream.
  4. Gently fold in chopped figs and fig jam into the wet mixture.
  5. Combine dry ingredients gradually until just mixed.
  6. Fill cupcake liners two-thirds full and sprinkle oats or walnuts on top if desired.
  7. Bake for about 25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean; allow to cool completely before frosting.
  8. For the frosting, beat room temperature butter and cream cheese until smooth; add honey and confectioners' sugar gradually until well combined. Frost cooled cupcakes and garnish with sliced fresh figs.
