Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, mix the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet mix to the dry ingredients and blend on low speed until combined.
  5. Slowly stir in the hot water until fully incorporated.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  7. Bake for about 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let the cakes cool in their pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. For the frosting, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  10. Once cooled, frost between layers and on top of the cake as desired.
