Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brown butter by melting unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown and nutty (about 5-7 minutes). Allow it to cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled brown butter with white and brown sugars using a mixer until well blended. Add vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing until creamy.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cornstarch. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients on low speed until just combined.
  4. Fold in semi-sweet and mini chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.
  5. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before baking.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Scoop out portions of dough onto prepared sheets, spacing them apart.
  7. Bake for about 12 minutes or until edges are golden but centers remain soft. Let cool on sheets briefly before transferring to wire racks.
